1. Who we are
Mechanic Dasher ("we," "us," "the Platform") operates a website and mobile-friendly web application that connects vehicle owners ("Customers") with independent mobile mechanics ("Mechanics") in the DFW Metro Area for on-site vehicle repair and maintenance services. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.
2. Mechanic Dasher is a marketplace, not a repair shop
Mechanic Dasher does not itself perform vehicle repairs. We provide a platform that connects Customers with independent Mechanics. Mechanics are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or representatives of Mechanic Dasher. Mechanic Dasher does not control the manner, means, or methods by which a Mechanic performs any repair, and is not responsible for the quality, safety, or outcome of any repair work performed.
3. For Mechanics
3.1 Independent contractor status
By signing up as a Mechanic, you acknowledge and agree that you are an independent contractor and not an employee of Mechanic Dasher. You are solely responsible for your own tools, equipment, transportation, taxes (including self-employment tax), business licenses, and any insurance required to perform your work. Mechanic Dasher does not withhold taxes on your behalf; you will receive earnings records through your in-app dashboard and are responsible for reporting your own income. Before your first payout you must give us a completed IRS Form W-9, and we may hold payouts until we have it. Where the law requires, we report payments to you to the IRS and send you the matching tax form.
3.2 Qualifications and conduct
You represent that you have the skills, experience, and any licenses required by Texas law to perform the repair work you accept. You agree to perform all work professionally, safely, and in accordance with applicable law.
3.3 Platform fee
Mechanic Dasher retains a percentage of each paid job as a platform/service fee, as disclosed in your Mechanic dashboard and settings at the time of the job. This percentage may change prospectively; it will never change retroactively on a job you've already completed.
3.4 Insurance
Mechanics are required to carry their own general liability insurance, which covers damage to a customer's vehicle or property while you work, and their own auto insurance. Garage-keepers liability coverage is recommended. Mechanics must provide proof of coverage before taking jobs, and we are happy to help you understand what to ask your insurance company for. Mechanic Dasher does not provide insurance coverage for Mechanics' work.
4. For Customers
4.1 Estimates and approval
Before chargeable repair work begins, your Mechanic will provide an itemized estimate of parts and labor. Work beyond that estimate requires your separate approval/signature. You are responsible for reviewing estimates carefully before approving them.
4.2 Payment
All payments are processed securely through our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Mechanic Dasher does not store your full card number. You approve the final payment for each job before it is charged, and saving a card does not charge it. By saving a card on file, you authorize Mechanic Dasher to charge that card only for payments you approve and for the cancellation fee described in the Cancellation & Refund Policy, which you agree to when you send a repair request.
4.3 Warranty
Every completed repair includes a 90-day labor warranty (a Mechanic may offer a longer period), and the warranty end date is shown on your receipt. If the repair fails because of the Mechanic's work during that period, the Mechanic will correct it at no additional labor charge. Parts carry the warranty of the part's seller or manufacturer. The warranty does not cover misuse, damage from a crash or from continuing to drive after a warning sign appears, new damage, normal wear, parts you supplied yourself, or problems unrelated to the repair performed. Mechanic Dasher facilitates warranty requests but does not itself perform repairs or guarantee warranty fulfillment.
4.4 Parts you supply
If you provide your own parts, tell us on the request form. The Mechanic will check that the part fits before installing it, but no warranty applies to customer-supplied parts, and the Mechanic may decline to install a part they believe is wrong or unsafe. Labor to install or remove a customer-supplied part that fails is billed at the normal rate.
4.5 Fees
There is no fee to request a Mechanic. Parts purchased through a job are billed at cost plus a 15% handling fee, shown as its own line on your estimate. A flat $35 cancellation fee applies if you cancel after your Mechanic is on the way, as described in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
4.6 Card on file and agreement
Creating an account is free. When you send a repair request, you must save a card to your account (it is not charged at that time) and agree to these Terms and the Cancellation & Refund Policy. We record the date, time and wording of your agreement with each request.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, Mechanic Dasher, its owners, and operators are not liable for any damages, injuries, or losses arising from or related to repair work performed by a Mechanic, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, or vehicle malfunction following a repair. Your use of the Platform and any repair services is at your own risk. Mechanic Dasher's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the platform fee actually collected by Mechanic Dasher on the job giving rise to the claim.
6. Cancellations
Either party may cancel a scheduled job prior to the Mechanic's arrival, subject to the Cancellation & Refund Policy, which also explains refunds and how to dispute a charge. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows by either party may result in account suspension.
7. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or poses a safety risk to other users, at our discretion.
8. Dispute resolution
Any dispute arising from these Terms or use of the Platform will first be addressed through good-faith direct communication with Mechanic Dasher support. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any legal action shall be brought in Tarrant County, Texas.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
